Apple is moving into the final stretch for iOS 26, releasing its sixth developer beta on Tuesday alongside updates for iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and macOS. The public launch in September is now just weeks away. While the main features are already in place, Beta 6 brings a handful of refinements that have been well received by early testers.
The update expands Apple’s ringtone options with six new versions of the classic Reflection tone: Buoyant, Dreamer, Pond, Pop, Reflected, and Surge. There is also a completely new tone called Little Bird. Dreamer is already proving popular, with some users saying it is the first default tone in years worth switching their phone off silent for.
After weeks of testing, Apple has made a final decision on the Camera app’s gesture for switching modes. The familiar swipe direction is back, a move many welcomed as a win for comfort and usability.
Onboarding now shows off Apple’s liquid glass design from the start. The lock screen clock is more transparent, menu labels are sharper, and soft color shifts give the whole interface a smoother, more refined feel.
Testers report quicker animations when opening and closing apps. While actual load times may be the same, the faster transitions make the phone feel more responsive. One user compared it to flipping a light switch.
With the core features locked in, Beta 6 is about polishing details ahead of Apple’s fall hardware launch. If this build is any sign, iOS 26 will arrive as a feature-rich update that feels faster, looks cleaner, and offers a more personal touch than earlier versions.
