Google has enhanced its Circle to Search feature with real-time translation that works seamlessly as users scroll through content or switch between apps.

Seamless Translation While Scrolling

According to Google's official announcement, users can now activate continuous translation by long-pressing the home button or navigation bar to start Circle to Search, then tapping the “Translate” icon followed by “scroll and translate”. This improvement eliminates the previous need to restart translation every time the on-screen content changed, offering a smoother experience for reading social posts, restaurant menus, or any foreign language text across apps.

Android Rollout and Device Compatibility

The new feature is rolling out this week on Android devices, with Samsung Galaxy phones receiving it first. Google notes that translation is one of the most popular uses for Circle to Search, especially when consuming content from creators in different languages or accessing foreign-language utility apps while traveling. Other Android users can expect the functionality to arrive in subsequent updates.

Evolving Functionality

Since its debut with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Circle to Search has received regular enhancements, including expanded AI Overviews for visual searches and single-tap actions for items like phone numbers and links on-screen. The new scroll-and-translate capability exemplifies Google’s push to make information access more intuitive and efficient for multilingual daily use.

User Experience

The update streamlines real-time translation, making it especially handy for users navigating diverse content, and minimizes interruptions when switching apps or navigating through lengthy pages. This marks another step in Google’s ongoing integration of AI and practical search tools to improve accessibility for all Android users.
