The United Kingdom is preparing to close a major regulatory gap by explicitly bringing AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and Grok under the scope of its Online Safety Act. The move would impose strict child-safety obligations on AI providers and expose non-compliant firms to heavy fines or even service bans in the UK.
