Samsung may be gearing up for a major AI shake-up in its upcoming Galaxy S26 series, and the name at the center of it all? Perplexity AI.
According to multiple reports, including a Bloomberg exclusive, Samsung is in advanced talks with Perplexity to make the AI startup’s assistant a default feature on its future smartphones, potentially replacing Google’s Gemini, which currently powers much of Samsung’s AI experience.
If finalized, this deal would not just preload the Perplexity app on Samsung devices, but also integrate its search smarts directly into the Samsung Internet browser. Talks have even touched on injecting Perplexity into Bixby, the brand’s own voice assistant, hinting at deep AI system-wide integration.
And it doesn’t stop there.
Insiders say both companies have explored building AI-native operating systems, using Perplexity’s multi-agent tech to create a more powerful, independent “Galaxy AI” experience. This could mark a significant step away from Samsung’s reliance on Google, and toward a more proprietary AI ecosystem.
While the official announcement could land later this year, the actual rollout is expected with the Galaxy S26, likely arriving in the first half of 2026.
Behind the scenes, Samsung is also rumored to be backing Perplexity in a massive $500 million funding round, giving the startup a valuation of $14 billion.
If the partnership materializes, it could redefine how Samsung users search, browse, and interact with their devices, and reshape the future of mobile AI.
